Set up in four steps
- Install Dashmint and pick a plan on Shopify's plan page. Free is one of the plans.
- In Dashmint, open Overview and use Open theme editor. Your theme opens with the Dashmint launcher app embed ready to switch on. Switch it on and save. App embeds work in Online Store 2.0 themes.
- Play a test run in your store: use the launcher button (it reads Play for coins unless you changed its label), or open /apps/dashmint/play on your store's domain.
- Check the reward tiers and the monthly budget on the Rewards page.
To show the game inside a page as well, add the Dashmint game block to a section in the theme editor and set its heading and height.
Questions merchants ask
The button does not show in my store
Check that the Dashmint launcher embed is switched on and saved in the theme editor, that Game enabled in the store is on in Dashmint Settings, and that the launcher is set to show on the page you are looking at. The launcher is never shown on the cart page.
How do shoppers earn coins?
Each run pays the coins picked up on the track plus a bonus for stars, up to your plan's daily number of runs. Streak days, daily quests and a one-time bonus for playing with a customer account add more. On Season and Studio, paid orders add coins too: they are credited 14 days after the order and taken back if the order is refunded or cancelled.
How do rewards work?
A shopper trades coins for a reward you have turned on. With a customer account, the code is tied to that one shopper. As a guest, on Season and Studio when you allow guest rewards, the code works once for whoever redeems it, since a guest has no account to tie it to. Every code needs a minimum order and has an end date, and shows in your Shopify discounts under the title Dashmint reward. The shopper takes it to the cart from the game. Each shopper holds one active reward at a time, and by default can take the same reward once in 30 days. Rewards unlock one day after the shopper's first contact with the game on their account.
What keeps the discounts within limits?
On Season and Studio you set a monthly budget as a share of your last 30 days of revenue, and Dashmint never lets the value of active rewards go above half of it, so the month's discounts cannot pass it. On Free the rule is a count instead: 50 rewards a month, not a percent of revenue. When the budget is used up, rewards pause until the next month while shoppers keep collecting coins. You can pause rewards at any time with Redemptions open on the Rewards page.
Can guests play?
Yes. A guest's coins stay in their browser for up to 30 days and move to their account when they log in. On Season and Studio, when you allow guest rewards, a guest can also redeem straight away; on Free, only a customer account can redeem.
Is the score fair?
Everyone in your store plays the same route on a given day. The server replays every run from its key presses and ignores the score the browser reports, and daily and weekly coin caps limit what anyone can collect.
What happens if I uninstall?
The launcher and the game block disappear from your theme. Codes already given to shoppers keep working until their end date. Your Dashmint data is deleted as the privacy policy describes.
Which languages does Dashmint speak?
The game and the Dashmint admin are in English and Polish. The game follows your storefront's language, or the language you pick in Settings.
Privacy and data requests
The privacy policy at /privacy on this site lists what Dashmint stores and for how long. Shopify's requests to export or erase a customer's data are handled as it describes.
